Road Trip Up North ~ Day 2

23 June 2014 (Mon):

We went around checking out for a good hotel nearby & we found ~

The Tree Boutique Hotel. Surprised to see its recommended on Trip Advisor.

Right across from I City, it has many amenities around & SACC Mall is about 10 mins drive away only.

Saw some street art from our room window the night before & decided to check it out. Was in awe as there were many such innovative drawings thru the many back lanes of the shophouses here.

Super Mario?

I found MH370 / Anybody for a game of Snakes & Ladders?

The back door of the shops involved became a toilet for both men & women.

We saw this promotion while at I City the day before & its RM$50 for admissions to: Snow Walk, Water Park, House of Horror, Science Mission & Red Carpet. Individual admission would be costly. This card is valid for 2 years from the date of purchase. Its also used for the rides around the park such as the carousel & ferris wheel. You can top it up when its low in value

** Trick Art Admission was not included with this card, hence we visited it individually yesterday. **

Our 1st stop: The Red Carpet ~ Wax Museum if you wanna make it simple :)
Queen Elizabeth II, Jacky, Chen Long, Elvis Priestly, Albert Einstein

Mr Bean - Rowan Atkinson, Sylvester Stallone, Captain Jack Sparrow ( Pirates of the Carribean) ; Johnny Depp (am I right), MM LKY

Sun Wu Kong...

Arnold Schwarzenegger - Terminal Terminator 1 2 3. Gods Must Be Crazy??, Deng Xiao Ping & apparently an F1 racer ( name unsure)

Yao Ming ~ basketball player...

The tallest & shortest man, Steve Jobs & Theresa Deng Li Jun

Chow Yun Fatt & James Bond ~ 007

Space Mission - 5 mins is more than enough; practically nothing.

Snow Walk. Jacket is provided but you need to rent the boots. I have gotten the kids to wear long sleeves & pants instead for this part of the fun. Unlike the previous trip to Snow City in Dreamworld, Bangkok, they were out in less than 5 mins as it was very cold.

We stayed slightly more than half an hour inside, sliding and going weeeeee....

Last attraction before we leave, the water park. Yes, a small area... the slides were not in operation...boo

In the late afternoon, we sent our ride for a much needed wash & polish. RM$50 & a good job done.

So it was to our next destination... can you guess where?

Clue: From I City, drive out to Federal Highway Route 2 <2>, exit Subang Jaya, follow directions for Bandar Sunway & you should come to......

Road Trip up North ~ Day 1

22 June 2014 (Sun):

Finally we're off. Prior to this day, Daddy was unable to confirm on the travelling dates as there were always something that went wrong at the last min in his project or there were more requests from his clients to do additional add-ons.

My initial plan was to Kuantan, no, a little town, I should say, about 1 hr away from Kuantan instead. Sungai Lembing was my ultimate destination. I read in travel reviews, forums & blogs about their wonderful expedition to Bukit Panorama Hills (林明山) & rainbow waterfalls & I would have loved to be part of it but Daddy says we go Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh instead since he promised the kids some splash.

However, we changed our mind this morning & our ride took us to Shah Alam instead. We had I-City in mind. I checked the net for more info & directions on the whereabouts. Its simple. Once you're on the Nth Sth Highway <E2>, go all the way till you see directions for Shah Alam. Exit the NSH & you should be on the Shah Alam Highway <E5>. Keep on following the direction for Shah Alam & you will come to the tol plaza. After going through the toll, there will be many clear & precise direction for I City.

Arrival @ I City

The whole place is still relatively new & not many business are in operation. However, there were quite a number of attractions open ~ Trick Art Museum, House of Horror, Red Carpet, Snow Walk & the Water Theme Park. City of Digital Lights opens at 7pm till 1am.

Our 1st POI - Trick Art Museum. This beats queuing for hours at the Trick Eye Museum in Sentosa.

 Admission rather cheap too: RM$15/person.

We took many, many, many  photos but I only post those "can do" ones up here. :P

Next, we saw the Junior Obstacle Course and for RM$10/kid, both kids made a dash for it.

There were 2 layers of obstacles - the only let down was that if u fall off the course on the lower track, you will not be allowed to proceed further.

Hey, Rachel's wearing a pair of shorts underneath her dress. Don't think otherwise, filthy minds. LOL.

City of Digital Lights. Free admission.

Junior Engineers @ Work

20 June 2014 (Fri):

My sil signed them up for a 2 days workshop held at Chong Pang CC. They learned stuff like motor & axle, crown gear, USB hub & tilt sensor, etc...

At the end of the course, they each got a certificate of attendance. But instead of getting back the kinetic rabbit which they did, the instructor presented them a 3 in 1 creator each.

Bollywood Veggies

Back dated post ~
05 June 2014 (Thurs):

This morning, I brought the kids over to Bollywood Veggies, off Kranji Countryside. We took the shuttle from Kranji MRT Station.

Prior to this, I was looking at its website to see what other farms we could visit but due to time constraint & waiting time for the shuttle buses in between, we decided to only stop at Bollywood Veggies. I do not drive so even visiting other farms within the same area would pose a problem since walking distance was not a plus factor.

Shuttle Bus @ $3/adult & $1/child. The bus timing stated on the pillar & website were different.

Admission @ $2/person. However, if you came by the shuttle bus, admission is free.

After walking around, we were quite disappointed. Some of the grounds were bare; what could have been interesting plants with blooming flowers or fruits to awe at, now vacant. Either the fruits/veggies were not in planting season or.... oh well..

This is their only restaurant @ Bollywood - Poison Ivy.

The air conditioned environment was welcoming after a humid day outside. We were lucky to have found a table cos the crowd started pouring in right after we sat down.

Menu for your reference.

While waiting for the shuttle bus.....

As the bus stops over at Sungai Buloh, the kids asked to walk around. This was not the 1st time we have been here anyway...

After walking for only about 15 mins, it started to drizzle. And the drizzle turned to heavy rain. What to do but run for shelter.

Spot it? This creature was basking in the rain till the rain got too heavy & it went down under the waters. The picture's too appropriate for some captions...lol

A date with X-Men

09 Jun 2014 (Mon):

On 01 Jun 2014 (Sun), we had a date with X-Men. We caught this movie @ Aeon, Bukit Indah, Skudai, Malaysia. Daddy promised the kids a movie should time permits & we caught the 10pm show. I was a little reluctant as the movie was about 2.5hrs long & this means, we would only be back home between 1-2am...

We only managed to get seats 3 rows from the front... I found hard to be comfy...my neck was aching.

RM15/adt & RM8/child ... cool deal!

Right before our show, we had dinner at this hotstone restaurant.

Sizzling....
