Lantern Festival @ Gardens By The Bay

04 Oct 2014 (Sat):

This year, Gardens by the Bay is having a lantern festival celebration, featuring lanterns from different cultures, groups and companies. The 4 kids, together with their ah ma (aka my mil) and myself, went down to soak in the atmosphere. It had been raining earlier on, so the grounds were kinda wet and muddy but that didnt stop the crowd from coming in and by the late evening, it got so crowded that even taking a photo was hard.

I lost the kids and ah ma quite a few times but hey, having a mobile phone on hand would always do the trick of locating them. The kids were told to stay put on the spot if they ever got lost and not to go round looking for the rest. We told them, if possible, asked to borrow a mobile from someone and call us instead. Luckily, all 4 of them stayed close to ah ma.

We left the place around 10pm, took the mrt back and had a late dinner cum supper.

Departmental Dinner @ Mr Punch

09 September 2014 (Tues):

After joining my new company for only the 3rd week, we had a departmental dinner hosted by my immediate superior. The aim is for all 9 of us to mingle and get to know one another.

We had fun and ate shared many good food. After dinner, some of them stayed back for more drinks and the rest head back home.

Thanks to WS, FM, AN, VC, NL, JW, VL and CK. YL had an enjoyable time :)

大上海 @ Sutera Mall, Skudai, Malaysia

07 September 2014 (Sun):

Just 2 adults, just the 2 of us. We were at Skudai, JB once again. After getting what Daddy came in for, we had a late dinner at Da Shang Hai ( translated: Big Shanghai). There were 2 options for us; either dim sum or steamboat. We chose dim sum as the ingredients for the steamboat were limited and didn't look appetizing to me. :P

Anyway, the kids were having their week long school break and so we did not bother to rush back. They stayed overnight at their ah ma's place.

Scoot Away

04 Aug 2014 (Mon):

Taiwan has always been on my wish list. I have only been to Taiwan once & that was on a tour leading assignment back in the late 90s. And recently when my in laws went to Taiwan for their yearly vacation, I was so tempted to follow but Daddy found the airfare expensive. :(

Then my sil & her family, my cousins, niece & nephews all went to Taiwan one after another & I so wanna go...

And I saw so many post on FB from my friends who went to Taiwan & back...

Not sure what made Daddy pop the question back in June & asked if I'm interested to go Taiwan. Would I say NO? Course not! So we have been checking on the various budget carriers website for promotions to Taiwan but the total for 2A & 2C would always be at least $1700. Cheapo Daddy would definitely NOT agree on this kind of price.

I would always argue with Daddy on the fact that we are going during CNY & how would he expect the fare to be cheap?!!!!

Fast forward - 01 August 2014. Scoot was having a promo & their tag line: " Enjoy special fares on the return flight when you scoot to these amazing destinations. Taxes & surcharges apply. "

I clicked on the given link & indicated my preferred departure dates. However, the selected return date was not having promo as promised. Haiz... And then I saw - return (TPE/SIN) dates on 26 Feb onwards were only SGD$33 (FLY only category), excluding taxes. This means you do not get the additional baggage allowance of 20kg unless you book the FLY/BAG category, for a different price of course. :)

I played around, clicking on the various departure & returning dates & our conclusion:

SIN / TPE: 21 Feb 2015 $178 per person         TPE/ SIN: 26 Feb 2015 $33 per person

Total including taxes: $1350 for 2 adults & 2 children, including 20kg baggage allowance to & fro for the 2 adults only. ( we added those in on the passengers details' page).

So its onwards to Taiwan, though only for 6 days & 5 nights next CNY, 2015.
Confirmed & Double Chopped!!!!

All Thanks to Scoot. :)

Courtesy of Scoot. I got this from their website.

21 Feb SIN / TPE 0055 / 0530. Check in on the 20 Feb night at 2255hrs.

26 Feb TPE / SIN 1545 / 2015.

No doubt, the kids will miss 4 days of school. :P

I know most of you would say I'm crazy... 6 more months before departure....need to be so kiasu meh? Yes & Kanchiong! HAHAHA!!!
