TSOD Junior Dance Group

20 March 2016 (Sunday):

Rachel was selected to join the TSOD Junior Dance Group. She was elated since she did not got it at the last audition 2 years back.

The Yishun branch decided to have a dance group of its own. This selected group of students would represent the school to take part in competitions and events and performances. However, this means additional classes and practices. I have pre warned Rachel before hand on the additional classes she would be having and this means longer hours of practice. She was all for it. :)

And only after the 1st lesson, she was told by the teacher, Ms Jasmine Koh that they will all be entered into a competition, hence the lessons would be stretch from the usual 1 hours to 1.5hrs at least.

From the initial 3.15 - 4.15, classes are now from 3.15pm to 4.45pm but with most lessons, the timing would be stretch to 5.15hrs but there was once, almost to 5.30hrs.

Well, so long, Rachel enjoys her classes, Mummy here would definitely give full support.

Ballet Perfomance at Mrs Lee Choon Guan Theatre, ACJC

13 Dec 2015 (Sun):

TSOD ballet performance was held over 2 days; Fri and Sun.

Prior to Fri, I asked my colleague to accompany me to Buona Vista MRT to familiarize myself with the surroundings as ACJC was round the corner. Both of us literally walked one round around ACJC, wondering which was the nearest entrance and we both felt so stupid when we realised the main entrance was facing the station.

I really appreciated her for coming with me.

As I would be attending the concert on Fri and Sunday, I wouldn't want to be late as I was coming directly from work on Friday. Imagine wondering which direction to take and getting lost and running late cos not sure where to go... I better do a little racky.

Rachel was performing for this concert and I had promised her I would watched for the 2 days. As usual, the concert tickets were not cheap.

Without further ado, I leave you with 2 videos; one of Rachel's performance and one of her teacher, Ms Wu's performance. There are many other videos which I took but uploading them would require a considerable amount of time, hence just these 2videos would be sufficient, I think. :)

Studying a 3rd language

16 July 2014 (Wed):

YPS has encouraged all P3 students to acquire a 3rd language, therefore coming up with this conversational program to equip the students with basic oral skills.

There are both the Malay & Mandarin classes to choose from so obviously the Chinese students will learn Malay & vice versa. The Tamil students can have a choice of Mandarin or Malay. :)

This is Lionel's Conversational Malay Course book for beginners & the 1st class started yesterday.

I only know: Selamat Datang = Welcome, Kawan = Friend, Terima Kasih = Thank You...lol

My sil signed them up for a 2 days workshop held at Chong Pang CC. They learned stuff like motor & axle, crown gear, USB hub & tilt sensor, etc...

At the end of the course, they each got a certificate of attendance. But instead of getting back the kinetic rabbit which they did, the instructor presented them a 3 in 1 creator each.

Chinese Lanterns

06 February 2013 (Wed):

Last week, Lionel requested Daddy to help him do up some CNY decorations for his class & Daddy decided to make Chinese lanterns. He learned how to make the lanterns during his school days way back but unlike what we usually do, using ang baos & staple, Daddy's materials included cardboards, various sizes & designs of ang baos & even decorative flowers, beads & Chinese knottings.

Daddy needed the cardboards to give the ang baos (red packets) a hard feel so that the shape will stay in place. He cut out the cardboard according to the size of the ang bao & had the kids helped insert all cut cardboards into the ang baos.

Next, they stringed the decorative flowers & beads with a little help from me. Daddy cut another ang bao design into smaller rectangular shapes for us to roll them up as the side decoration for the lantern.

With glue, scissors, pencils, penknife, needles, ang baos & cardboards all over the table & floor, 2 Chinese lanterns were finally completed, ready for Lionel to take them to school the next morning. But Lionel says it is not enough & insisted to buy some other decorations as well. Oh well. :)

Fluffy Cotton Ball

25 Jan 2013 (Fri):

Fluffy cotton ball... nope, I'm not talking about a rabbit here but a full grown cotton plant who has its 1st burst of fluffy snowy cotton ball.

Notice the 2 cotton buds?... There's a 3rd one somewhere, hidden by the leaves. And the other cotton ball peeping out?

A clearer view - cotton buds indicated by the pink arrows & the little fluffy one by the blue arrow.

These are the cotton buds; not ready to burst open yet.

The fluffy snowy one..

I am hoping the neighbours' kids dun try & pull out the cotton buds for their school project, or even the adults, thinking they need a cotton or two to remove their nail polish, else there goes.
