Prefect Investiture

15 Apr 2016 (Friday):

Rachel has been chosen to become a prefect and her rehearsal is as per below. Too bad parents were not invited to the investiture/ceremony.

She came back and proudly showed me her prefect badge, and told me her prefect duties are every Monday.

I told her even as a prefect, she is not allowed to abuse her authority and must always show care and concern. Everyone is equal.

But I believe Rachel has the right qualities since Kindergarten. Her teacher has always commented she is helpful and kind, shows and exercises responsibility and helps take care of younger children.

Primary 3 SA 2 Results

07 Nov 2014 (Fri):

Lionel got back his results for SA2 and he did exceptionally well. The 1st thing he said to me when he showed the papers was: " You see, i did not bluff you, these are proof of my results.."

I was expecting band 2 or even band 3 as his grades declined after his SA1 papers. He did not score well for many of his test papers, hence I was half expecting a below average score. I was really crossing my fingers and hoping he checked through his work thoroughly.

Every evening after his papers, I would asked him the same question: " How was your paper? Did you checked through your work? Did you read before answering?...."

His reply was almost the same everythime:" Okay... Ya... I checked... Okay...Can...Should be... I think so... Ya... Have lah... Can you stop asking me... Its over.."

*roll eyes*

English Paper: 44/50 ~ 88% (band 1)

Science: 94.5/100 ~ 94.5% (band 1)

Chinese: 40.5/45 ~  90% (band 1)

Maths: 93/100 ~ 93% (band 1)

Studying a 3rd language

16 July 2014 (Wed):

YPS has encouraged all P3 students to acquire a 3rd language, therefore coming up with this conversational program to equip the students with basic oral skills.

There are both the Malay & Mandarin classes to choose from so obviously the Chinese students will learn Malay & vice versa. The Tamil students can have a choice of Mandarin or Malay. :)

This is Lionel's Conversational Malay Course book for beginners & the 1st class started yesterday.

I only know: Selamat Datang = Welcome, Kawan = Friend, Terima Kasih = Thank You...lol

P3 SA1 2014 Results

23 May 2014 (Fri):

Apologies for the lack of posts. May was a tedious month with lots of academic revision & coaching as the SA (Semestral Assessment) papers were round the corner for my P3 boy. This is a grading on topics covered since the beginning of school year right up till May.

For the P3s, they have this academic system along an "achievement band " whereby the students were graded according to their marks achieved:

Band 1 ~ 85% & above
Band 2 ~ 70% - 84%
Band 3 ~ 50% - 69%
Band 4 ~ below 50%

Based on the results below, I am proud to say Lionel had done well & has exceeded my expectations greatly. :)

Eng: 44/50 ~ 88%

Mother Tongue: 43.5/50 ~ 96%

Maths: 96/100 ~ 96%

Science: 48/50 ~ 96%

YPS 6th Annual Sports Day

07 March 2014 (Fri):

YPS had their 6th annual sports meet this morning at Yishun Sports Stadium. Prior to this event, the students had their selection process & Lionel had been selected to participate. All the P3 students had already known their school house last year & Lionel is in Topaz.

This sports event is only for the P3s to P6s. The lower primary will have theirs sometime in term 3.

I love the way that each individual house had their flags displayed along with the school flag.
Red - Ruby
Green - Emerald
Blue - Sapphire
Yellow - Topaz

Lionel took part in the 8 x 50m relay & his team (Topaz) came in 1st. Topaz was also the overall champion. :)

Individual House March Past: Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire & Topaz

8 x 50m relay. Go Topaz (yellow). Whoa! There were really some sprinters here :) Lionel was the last one in his team to sprint across & their team came in 1st.

Prize Giving. The Champions.

Parents - Children - Teacher Relay. Watch Daddy (in grey) & Lionel, towards the far end, near the field. To help you follow closely, the 1st pair In their team was of a lady (in blue) with her child.

1st day of school, 2014

02 Jan 2014 (Thurs):

Happy 2014! The 2nd day of January dawn bright & early for these 2 as they prepared themselves for their 1st day of school. I was in school at 0730hrs & went back home only at 1015hrs. Parents were asked to wait at the school canteen while the teachers took attendance & got the pupils ready for their walk to the classroom. Hey, I think as parents, we were more anxious than our children. We were not allowed to be "loitering" around the classrooms but......

I was taking a foto of Rachel (red arrow) & happened to catch my niece in action (blue arrow)....yawning away. Lol!

The classroom doors were opened so I took a peek at Rachel, sitting at the exact table she sat during her orientation.

This is Yi Xuan, Rachel's P2 buddy. A very helpful & caring girl. She taught Rachel how to buy snacks & even helped her to carry the bowl of noodle soup. Rachel's wallet, though hooked on her skirt, was hanging out of her pocket & tried as I might, I could not get her attention. Yi Xuan saw it & quickly push the wallet back into Rachel's pocket.

Immediately after Rachel's recess, it was the P3s & P4s. Lionel looked so mature in his new uniform.

Parents are still allowed to visit the P1 pupils during recess tomorrow & I will definitely be there. STILL cant believe my princess is in P1.

Writing, Wrapping, Sorting & Packing

28 December 2013 (Sat):

As the end of 2013 draws to a closure in a few days time, Lionel & Rachel were seen here doing the last min writing, wrapping, sorting & packing of their school books for P3 & P1 respectively.

I taught Rachel how to insert the books into their covers once & she continued doing the rest herself.

Lionel writing down his name & class for all books.

Rachel doing the same.

And the bookshelf is finally sorted out.
